Exact times can be difficult or impossoble to pin down, given non-standard
time, differences in watch settings (or, no watches at all), and varying
accounts. My best guess would be some time not too long after noon, and
more likely by the 14th CT.
The veterans of the 14th CVI were very clear and strong in their claims that
it was they who fired the Bliss Farm buildings and apparently Bachelder
accepted the validity of their statements. As for timing, I have never seen
anything definitely on it, but it would seem that around noon or a little after
would be right -- the regiment withdrew to the base of Cemetery Ridge first
and then after a short interval returned to the crest of the ridge a bit north
of the Angle, arriving there before the great bombardment began (about 1 PM,
I think).
