GDG- Buford to Reynolds, July 1?

Hi J.D.,
I do have most if not all of the June 30 messages, many of which were in the
BMI files. However, there is nothing that reflects Buford's call for help
once the attack actually began on July 1. If there was a written message
rather than a verbal sent by courier, it apparently got lost in the shuffle.
Of course, if the courier wrote a published memoir and mentioned the
message, there may be a record it in that sense. Do you know who the
courier was?
Tom

Tom,
Have you see the missives that Buford sent to Reynolds on June 30 - the ones
found amongst Reynolds' papers after his death? They're not in the OR.
I can post the text of them here if you're not familiar with it.

I do not find a direct reference in Sears to Buford notifying Reynolds, but
he implies that Buford sent a courier to him. If so, it appears there may
be no written record of that message.

I do not find a message in Part 1 or Part 3 of OR, 27 from Buford to
Reynolds that he was under attack on July 1. Also, in his report of the
battle, Buford makes no reference to having actually sent a message to
Reynolds on the morning of July 1. Coddington also does not mention that
Buford alerted Reynolds to the attack.
I have no doubt that he did notify Reynolds on July 1, but cannot find a
rererence to it. Does anyone know how Buford got the word to Reynolds he
was under attack?
