If you are allowed to bring food, get a box of hardtack.  They have it at 
the new VC or you can buy it on the web.
I think it might be important to discuss the size of the battle field and 
how many soldiers, horses, etc. were involved.  You could say that a typical 
regiment might be 10 or 15 times the size of the class.  Or that there were 
more than 20 thousand (that is half of a baseball stadium) wounded remaining 
in the town.  I think it would be a good idea to scale the battle in terms 
that that they can relate to.  Also, there are tons of photos on the web at 
the LOC.  Notice that the guides and NPS rangers always have a stack of 
relevant photos with their speeches.
