I think this is the one non-historic tree line they would have left as when you are standing on Confederate avenue, you now can see the park and houses clear as day, whereas at least the tree line blocked all that previously. Although it was non-historic, at least it gave you a sort of back in time feel as you couldn't see all the houses and stuff (at least it did for me). But I guess you can't have everything the way you want it, and I will take the removal of those trees to have all the other trees removed.

The park is in the process of repairing this monument, which was struck by lightning. About half of the stonework has been removed.
Also, the non-historic tree line at the north end of the PPG charge (behind the Pickett Buffet) has been removed.
