I think the Hotchkiss map was a map that jackson had requestyed a year or so
earlier, I know Lee used it and it was possibly updated. I have never seen
the Hotchkiss map, though it is on my Bucket List. i have seen details
though and it is truly a thing ofb beauty. the scale is about twice they
show in the Atlas of the Civil War, probably because the real map is table
sized.
I do not think that lee had a target for thr invasion any smaller than
Pennsylvania. Lee was a soldier, and he knew the geograpy was against him.
He just could not stray far from the valley, and he did not.
