Ed, you're correct, THE MOVIE contained a shot of a "sniper" sighting on and shooting Reynolds, although it wasn't necessarily a "sniper". The woods (Herbst) were already infiltrated with advancing Tennesseeans and Alabamians. He would have made an easy target for any soldier.
