Tod: It wasn't actually me that your quoting, but I'm checking out the book now and I'll be more than happy to share my thoughts on it with you. Do you recall wether the book was ever mentioned on this board? The review blurb on the back cover suggests that it is "...recommended reading for Civil War Buffs and 'Alternativde Universe' science fiction fans."
Does that mean that it's the same kind of book as Gingrich's?
Because I really hated that book.

I have read portions of the Sauros book, though for some reason I haven't
had the attention span with other books to read through the whole thing. I
thought the book could have been more interesting, but it is enjoyable to
read. I would like for you to expound on why you think the book is
well-written, and specifically what you think about the author's portrayal
of a July 1st attack on Culp's Hill and Cemetery Hill ( I have this
particular fascination with that "what if"). I would also like to know your
opinion of the alternate Gettysburg books by New Gingrich, which I haven't
read.
