GDG- Disgusted

It doesn't bother me to see an occasional kid climbing on a cannon at Gettysburg. Sure, I don't want to see any damage done or chipping of the new paint, and I don't condone the practice but I can't help but think that cannon will be something the kid will remember for years to come. I always enjoy seeing the bus loads of school kids and scout groups at Gettysburg and by and large they are usually well behaved. I think that they all come away, maybe unconsciously and some unwillingly, with a certain degree of respect for history. Some more than others. Some of those kids will develop an interest in history because of the trip and I wonder which one of them are future GDG members.

One thing that does bother me is watching kids bounce around on the boulders at the top of Devil's Den and jumping over the crevices. I can't watch that because I always expect one of them to slip over the edge and crack their heads. Always gives me the jitters.
