agree with both Steve and Dave! No photo should be maneuvered in such
a way. I hope it was taken by them or the photographer could be offended
also. No respect!
Which brings us to the way parents let their children act in public
now-a-days! I do tell children their behavior is not acceptable, in
front of their parents leaving a lesson for both. Maybe if other people
did this it would improve their parenting skills, as well as the
children's behavior.
A little voice is nagging away at me saying relax a bit the statue wasn't
defiled it was just a picture of the statue. A few weeks ago some truly amazing
pictures of the Pennsylvania monument were posted on here bathed in light of
amazing but far from natural lights which were obviously false. Then ponder
Doubleday, perhaps a photo of his statue with a bat and glove on the plinth
would cause a wry smile rather than an outpouring of indignation? I recall a
few years ago having to stifle a guilty snigger after yet another May 1st
anarchist riot in Parliament square Sir Winston Churchill's statue was left with
a strip of green turf down the middle of his head leaving him looking rather
like grumpy mohecan with attitude.
Of course I'm not advocating vandalism, disrespect or bad behaviour I
simply don't think we need to get too bent out of shape about a bit of digital
manipulation or be so sensitive we see slights or disrespects that weren't
intended. Now had somebody welded a set of spiky green hair on Winnie's head or a
saxophone to Warren's back then I'd certainly be up in arms.
Now as to kids behaviour in public having visited the park several times and
seeing the kids both in school groups and with parents I have seen very
little bad behaviour at all. I personally like to se the kids running about and
enjoying themselves, I don't like to see them jumping around on monuments and
such but I do like to see them having fun.
