GDG- VC: How much time to allocate? Plus bookstores?

I've kind of gathered that from various postings here & on the MHO (plus 
a letter in the latest Civil War News), I had only been twice to the old 
VC - but both times I picked up a number of books + a couple of maps + a 
few DVDs...
