Henry W. Green, Company E of the 146th. I know he died at Andersonville in
January 1865, but
I have conflicting information as to his capture. One reference is May,
1863, and the other May, 1864. I'm guessing the 1864 date is probably more likely
because the unit was very heavily engaged at The Wilderness with a large
number of men captured.
John,

While it's possible that Sgt. Henry Green was captured during the
Chancellorsville Campaign, I tend to agree with you that it was more likely that he was
captured in or around Saunders' Field at The Wilderness. The total
casualties for the 146th at Chancellorsville were only about 50, 30 of which were
"missing." The casualties for the Wilderness were a little over 300, which
included "190 missing."

I will contact another to see if he has the exact date of capture & get back
with you.

Respectfully,

Mike Peters
