In Martin Haynes first regimental history of the 2nd New Hampshire, written in 1865, here is his note for the activity at Gettysburg on July 3rd: "[t]here was some fighting, mostly by artillery, although upon the right the infantry was occasionally hotly engaged." Regards, Alan
