<< Jim,

Thank you for the quote. In "Civil War Books" by Nevins, Robertson and
Wiley, they write that "Life in Camp" is "A hastily reworked diary that
gives a shallow account of army life."

The book has been reprinted and I'm wondering whether to purchase it or not.

Thanks again,

John Gross>>

John,

It's been a while since I read "Life in Camp", while doing research on the
14th VT, but that's probably isn't a bad description. It's not a very
"deep" book. You might want to pick it up is the price is reasonable, but
I wouldn't go overboard.

An interesting book on VT in the CW, with a fair amount on the Gettysburg
Campaign, is "A War of the People, Vermont Civil War Letters", edited by
Jerrrey B. Marshall. The King letter I posted is from that book.
