Myles Keogh of Little Big Horn history is buried, along with other local CW
heros, in Fort Hill cemetery in my home town. During the Gettysburg battle
and after he was with Buffords command and at his side when he died in December
'64. My question is where was he during the battle, what was his activities
and the like?
If some one can relate some of the actions he took part in the retreat
conflicts that would be good too.

In an essay about Keogh's Civil War service in "The Life and Legend of an
'Irish Dragoon' in the Seventh Cavalry", Brian Pohanka wrote that although Keogh
received a brevet promotion to major for gallant and meritorious service at
the Battle of Gettysburg, in fact Keogh was on leave during a portion of the
campaign (from what Brian wrote, I gather this leave was for several days
immediately after the battle). We do know, from a diary entry, that Keogh was
back with Buford by July 27.
