GDG- WOT-Is History History?

A couple of weeks ago we discussed what we thought was the lamentable
situation concerning the teaching of history in the U.S.

 

I thought this info from the Hartford Courant might be of interest:

For the years 2005, 2006 and 2007 there were over 56000 bachelor's degrees,
in 29 different majors, bestowed by 17 of Connecticut's major colleges.
History was the tenth largest group. It outnumbered degrees in Education,
Engineering, Computer and Information Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics,
Foreign Languages, Public Administration/Social Sciences, Architecture and
Legal Professions, among others. Interesting, the number of history degrees
awarded by Yale University in 2007 was only second to the number of Social
Science degrees awarded that year.
