" We started early for Gettysburg and marched swiftly until we came near taneytown where we stoppped several hours. Our brigade was sent back to guard the wagon trains this PM but when we had gone about three miles we were ordered back. when we got back to the place where we had stopped before noon the rest of the corps had gone on. we rested a short time then started for Gettysburg. We marched about six miles and stopped for the night in Pennsylvania. our company was sent out on guard."
