GDG- a new book!

This is the book I picked up at Peggy's store at the stomp. I think it answered a puzzlement for me.

on Jan 8th 2008 Drew Gilpin Faust( the current president of HARVARD ) brought forth a new book dedicated to those who gave their lives in the United States civil war, THIS REPUBLIC OF SUFFERING-DEATH AND THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR (with a whole lot of footnotes ). Ms. Faust has written a book concerning ( full of facts and figures ) death and dying in the civil war. A glance at the table of contents gives us a breif glimpes of the depth of her research and scholarship. I'm finding the book a grim and grisley though thoroughly interesting read. I would like to recommend this volume to those of us who enjoy a scholarly ( there are 50 pages of footnotes ) and well researched book.
