GDG- a split vote and some deeply distrubing news

The self-defeating thing about the theft of Civil War documents is that, especially now in the EBay era, the market for Civil War documents is not the eccentric billionaire collector of movie lore who doesn't care if a painting or sculpture is stolen and can't be exhibit so long as he has the thrill of possession. The people who are the most likely to be alert to documents and artifacts appearing on the market are passionate students of the subject who are likely to know or suspect if the item is stolen and who will alert authorities.
