     I recently heard Ed do a program for the New Bern (N.C.) CWRT on North 
Carolina troops at Gettysburg, July 1, 1863. During the Q & A period the 
subject of THE MOVIE came up. Ed quipped that in his opinion, Sam Elliott 
played a better Buford than Buford himself did, and that if they ever made a 
movie of his (Ed's) life, he wanted Sam Elliott to play him.
