This is a really interesting dicussion thread as much of the ANV's panache was drawn from the aggressiveness and valor of its brigade commanders whose units were usually named after them. The ones that come to my mind most readily are : Semmes; Kershaw; Posey; and Wilcox. Does anyone know the list of ANV Brigades that have published histories?

Hi Mike - I'd hesitate to recommend getting the Dickert & Pope book, at
least on the area I was most interested in - Kershaw's assault on Day2 @
Gettysburg - it was very short on information, and had some very bad
mistakes (e.g., having Barksdale's brigade precede Kershaw's). Based on
that small sample size, if I were you I'd get some more recommendations
(from those that have read more of it in particular) before shelling out
the money for it...
