Actually, that may be a wasted wish: he was pretty consistent on his 
reasoning: (in a nutshell) The Emmitsburg Road line was higher, more 
open ground - and he feared it would dominate his assigned position 
along the southern extension of Cemetery Ridge. You probably wouldn't 
get much more than that out of him I'm afraid...
