Ambrose Bierce -- he wasn't at Gettysburg -- but he was at Shiloh...I'd ask him to write a short story about a writer who mysteriously disappears...

Subject: GDG- Who would it be?
Esteemed GDG Member Contributes:
On this cold & windy Winter evening in Gettysburg, I will submit a fun question to occupy a few moments of your time. If you had the opportunity to speak to any historical figure from the past, who would he or she be, and why?
I would love to sit and have a drink with Mark Twain. Find out how he developed his wry sense of humor despite his tragic life.
Also Benny Havens, the infamous West Point Tavern keep. I would want the dish on all of those naughty cadets!
Happy 2008 & Cheers!
Bernadette
