I think it would be great to talk to any or all of the officers in command
on the 1st day of the Battle of Gettysburg. Maybe Sickles & Howard as they
ate dinner on the 1st at the hospitality of Mrs. Elizabeth Thorn. What were
they talking about, what were they expecting the next day, what did they
think about what had already happened that day.
Let's not forget Gen. Buford, I'm sure he was worn out from the days'
exertions as well as disheartened at the loss of John Reynolds. For that
matter, I'd like to talk to John Reynolds and ask him the "truth" about
"Dear Kate"!!
Too many Generals, not enough time. Oh well, we can dream, right?!

Subject: GDG- Who would it be?
Esteemed GDG Member Contributes:
On this cold & windy Winter evening in Gettysburg, I will submit a fun
question to occupy a few moments of your time. If you had the opportunity to
speak to any historical figure from the past, who would he or she be, and
why?
I would love to sit and have a drink with Mark Twain. Find out how he
developed his wry sense of humor despite his tragic life.
Also Benny Havens, the infamous West Point Tavern keep. I would want the
dish on all of those naughty cadets!
Happy 2008 & Cheers!
Bernadette
