Esteemed GDG Member Contributes:
Good Morning All,
I have been a lurker on this list for nearly a year with only a casual
interest in participation due to my minimal level of knowledge of the battle
- particularly in comparison to those of you on the list. My primary reason
for monitoring the list has been genealogical in nature as I am a
descendent, on my mother's side, from the Culps of Gettysburg (John H.
Culp/Dorothy "Dolly" Snyder union - 3rd great grandparents). My recent
explorations of my paternal family has uncovered some information (muster
records) that indicate that my 2nd great grandfather was a member of
"Yancey's Independents" and that they participated in the battle of
Gettysburg. Does anybody out there know of their activities or possible
archives/books that would assist in my search?
Thanks in advance!
David Brown
