I have been following this thread with interest. The Electric Map was the
initial spark of my love for Gettysburg. I eventually built a huge model
of the battleground in my garage (no lights though!). I'm on the fence
about its preservation, but I wanted to opine that it cannot be done
better with Powerpoint. The map has a large physical presence. Regardless
of how slick the computer presentation is made to look, unless the
computer display is 20' by 20' (or whatever), it wouldn't compare with the
good ole map. 3D models are almost always preferable for helping people
understand the layout of large areas - that's why architects make those
very very cool models of the buildings, parks, highways, etc.
I guess if no one wants it, I'll take it... <wink>
