Sorry, it doesn't work, given the civility of the times. Remember, this is a guy who lost one-third of his army, endured the failure of all his direct combat subordinates during the battle, and responded "Oh! Too Bad!" If Lee had spoken in the manner you describe on July 1 and 2, there may not have been a need for the discussion that took place in whatever form on July 3.

Morning July 3
Lee: You want answers?
Longstreet: I think I'm entitled to them.
Lee:You want answers?
Longstreet: I want the truth!
Lee:: You can't handle the truth! Son, we stand on a field that has walls.
And those walls are guarded by Union men with guns. You don't want the
truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you
want to charge that that wall. You need to charge that wall. I suggest
you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what
you think you're entitled to!
Longstreet: Do you order me to charge that wall?
Lee: (quietly) I want you to do the job I sent you to do.
Longstreet: Do you order me to charge that wall?
Lee : You're g------n right I do!!
