1. "men in tall hats with gold watch fobs will thump their chests (dust rises from his blouse) and say 'what a brave charge it was'".
2. Lee quoting Psalm 144 as he leaves his tent on the morning of July 1.
3. "Follow cigar smoke; find fat men there".

Subject: GDG- Memorable lines from "The Movie"
Esteemed GDG Member Contributes:
Here's one exchange:
Longstreet is briefing the commanders before Pickett's Charge, and is
speaking to J. Johnston Pettigrew:
Longstreet: Yes, General; your fame as a scholar precedes you. They still
speak of your grades at North Carolina with reverence and awe. I understand
you've written a book.
Pettigrew: A minor work; if the General would care to read it...
Longstreet: Yes, General, I would like that very much.
Pettigrew: Captain, fetch a copy of my book from the wagon.
Longstreet: Excuse me, General, but I don't think I will have time to read
it today.
That's a classic. What are some other great lines?
Tom Ryan
