GDG- Electric Map

I have not seen the electric map since my first
visit to Gettysburg in 1963 at age 7 (when I got
hooked on the study of the battle and the war).

I have been back to Gettysburg many, many times
since then. And never viewed the electric map
again.

What is the value of the electric map?

I think it is an historic element of
Gettysburgania (?). Like veterans encampment
memoribilia, early battlefield visit gifts and
such. From that perspective it should be saved -
and displayed in that context.

But as a tool for telling the story of the
Gettysburg Campaign, technology allows much
better ways to do it now. And they wont just
speak to 7 year olds but most people under the
age of - hmmmmmm - lets say 42 (my brother is a
decade younger and a true gen-X-er so I use him
as a barometer).

Let's keep a perspective on the best ways to
interpret the events of June-July 1863 to ALL vs.
getting wrapping up in the warm fuzzy
sentimentalism of how this was done (for all the
right reasons) by earlier generations.

Respectfully,
