<I lost interest while reading this book. I don't know why. Seems good
enough all right, and easy enough to read and understand. Subject matter may
be to general, or it may be inviting me to confront my own concepts of death
and those left behind.
Bit of a mystery really, but I've no inclination to pick it up again soon.
(No disrespect intended.)>>
Hi Keith,
I understand, and none taken. It is not surprising that you and others may
find this book not to your taste. That happens with most books, I believe.
The audience varies according to the subject matter.
My thoughts go back to the book "Cold Mountain" by Charles Frazier (later
made into a movie). I found this book exceptionally interesting, especially
because of the details about the odyssey of a Confederate soldier named
Inman, the main character, in his attempt to reach his home in the mountains
of North Carolina after desertion from a hospital in Raleigh, I believe.
This book won several awards, yet I know folks who could not get past the
first fifty pages.
My prediction, though, about "This Republic" is that it will sell better
than any other book on a CW subject in many a year.
Regards, Tom
