John, Check your Douglas Southall Freeman again --either you have a condensed version of Lee's Lieutenants or got stiffed. Freeman's footnotes (yes, not end-notes) are classics and plentiful, as is his biblio. Where else would you see a footnote on a bugle call that gave the actual musical notation, or a note on five-minute boiling for Southern coffee.
