While the arty live fire demo is interesting it appeared to be of a firing mission carried out against a stationary masonry target with either shell that had a contact firing mechanism or solid shot. It also had the sound recorded from the arty position. Personally, I'm more interested in the effectiveness antipersonnel ammunition and would be far more intrigued if the audio was recorded from the psition of the target receiving the incoming fire. A demonstration of this sort would as far as is possible simulate the infantry's experience with arty which is a subject about which we all seem to hunger for greater knowledge and understanding.
Does anyone know of a test of ACW arty antipersonnel ammunition (cannister or grapeshot) fired against simulated infantry(wooden or paper life size targets) at various ranges by both smoothbore and rifled arty?

I saw that video the day before Terry and I came to G burg for the first time. You're right, seeing is believing.

There was an episode of Unsolved History (I think?) where they "found" the
map that showed Confederate burials from Pickett's Charge... Anyway, the
"new" insight into the failure of the charge wasn't so great, but the
demonstration of cannon fire was very good. I'm one of those "gotta see it
to get it" type of folks and that really opened my eyes as to what those
weapons were capable of.
