All,

I'm not the most hardcore Civil War buff and have a long way to go to know all there is to know. But one thing I do know, is that Gettysburg has a world-class museum and visitor center in town now. Wow! That's about all I can say about what I saw last night at the sneak peek. Now I know where $104 million went. They spared no expense on the facility and it's a gem. I'm not sure how you could be disappointed in it as someone else mentioned, because it is one of the nicest museums I've been to. I was hearing about how there were so many fewest artifacts on display, but I thought the way they were displayed took my breath away in some cases. They made the Civil War come to life and I think it will be a huge benefit to newcomers to the war and it's history. I was amazed and surprised at how much of the museum is devoted to the entire war and not just the Battle of Gettysburg. In fact, the name of the museum is the "Gettysburg Museum of the
American Civil War". The use of multimedia throughout and the storyline flow made it very entertaining and interesting to walk through. They have a great deal of interactive kiosks where you can try your hand at signal flags on Little Round Top, picking out bugle calls, packing a knapsack, etc. etc. There are several film rooms to watch well done History Channel films. I now know why they didn't want the Electric Map, because the History Channel created films show the troop movements in much clearer and up-to-date ways than the Electric Map did. I just don't know what else to say. In thinking back to the old VC, it's like comparing a TV Dinner and a five-star restaurant. There's no comparison.

And yes, they have about 100 guns on display for those who were worried about losing the muskets!
