GDG- Save The Electric Map

I am not sure if the uproar is due to losing the Electric Map as a learning
tool or as a piece of nostalgia. If it due to the former, too late, you have
already lost it. Several times I have been in the current VC and heard kids
coming out of the presentation snickering about the "corny presentation",
not once have I heard, "wow".
Kids these days are exposed to so much multimedia presentations, that the
map and it quaintness just doesn't match up. The money spent on moving and
setting it up (and redoing the new VC at this point) can better spent on
something that can catch the attention of young people the way the Map grabbed us.

As far as the latter, outside of this distinguished body and other hard core
CW fans, I am afraid that the Electric Map has no real value. It is
destined to go the way of Charley Weaver's dioramas, which were amazing to me and
added to my desire to learn more of the War.

Just the thoughts of a lurker.
