Thankyou Jim. It was a good stomp. I think that Chuck does a terrific job describing the field, (even when he's wrong). It's why he's one of my favorite guides.
Now the line of trees he pointed out to the east of our position, was that a road, or the stream?

Hi, Keith,
Yes, that was Winebrenner's Run, the same run that passes along the side of the Farnsworth house. On July 2 it was used for shelter by the men of Hays and Avery's brigades as they skirmished with soldiers of the XI Corp. The run provided some shelter from bullets, but not from the heat of the Gettysburg summer sun. When they began their assault on East Cemetery Hill in the evening, Gordon's brigade moved forward in support to the same run, but were not ordered to join the attack.
Didn't Chuck do a great job of describing that action to us? That was a great, if chilly, Stomp.
JC

During the stomp, Chuck T showed us a small creek that seemed to run under the school.

Was that Weinbrenners Run?

"Come in," she said "I'll give you shelter from the storm."
