Dennis:

The original Bechtel letters are held by GNMP in the Jacob L. Bechtel
Collection.  I've used them extensively for research on the 59th and
local presentations to libraries and historical societies (Bechtel was
from my county in Ohio).  I'm co-author for an upcoming issue of the
Ohio Civil War Genealogy Journal which will investigate all 125 Ohioans
in the 59th NY, one of the key resources for which was the Bechtel
Collection.
