<< Per the Union Dead: As you might expect, I have seen Jerry Coates'
article in the Gettysburg Magazine and it is definitely, absolutely not the
correct site. The angles are wrong, the historic treelines do not match and
there are numerous other problems as well. His is just one of more than
twenty eight possible sites submitted to William Frassanito for
confirmation. The fatal flaw of most all of them is in not recording the
images at the right angles. The thing about the images that might help us
the most--that there were five plates recorded in two different angles--also
makes confirmation of both angles a necessity.

Thanks,

A very good point, and one which Frassanito pointed out as far back as "A
Journey in Time". Every candidate location, including the Spangler farn
site, ends up having inconsistancies with known features - historic
treelines, for example - that end up ruling it out. Close doesn't count.
The location either matches known details, or it doesn't.

BTW, I have heard rumors of another proposed site, in a rather unexpected
location on the field. More than which I will not say.
