GDG- Gettysburg as a learning ground

George Will went to Carlisle Barracks to see how the U.S. Army is training
its officers.  His article on the Washington Post Op-ed Page yesterday has
this opening paragraph:

"Officers studying at the Army War College walk the ground at nearby
Gettysburg where Pickett's men walked across an open field under fire.  They
wonder:  How did Confederate officers get men to do that?  The lesson:  Men
can be led to places they cannot be sent."

Will's article is about the war in Iraq and how army officers are learning
