As far as recommendations for writing a Gettysburg book, I have one word - MAPS!!!!!!  When I see a new Gettysburg book, I immediately check to see if it has enough maps, and if they serve their purpose.  I will consider buying a book that is inadequately mapped, now that I have pored over hundreds of various maps, walked the battlefield extensively, and can visualize the terrain on my own.  But I still would hesitate buying if the book was "map-challenged".
