GDG- Top ten focus

>From the top ten lists so far, it looks like the main focus is on the
three-day battle rather than the two-month long campaign.  I happen to lean
toward the idea that a true understanding of the battle can only occur
within the larger framework of the entire campaign (June 3 to late
July-early August).  In other words, to only study the battle turns out to
be an academic exercise, while to research the entire campaign provides a
broader perspective of the impact of the Battle of Gettysburg on the war as
a whole.

Hasten to add there is nothing wrong with simply enjoying the battle as an
academic exercise.

Any thoughts?
