Here's a tip on a possible source of free or inexpensive CW books
(Gettysburg and otherwise).  About a year ago at our local library, I
noticed that the CW book shelves had been cleaned out by half or more.  What
happened was the librarians had weeded out books that were not circulating.
By this time, these books had already disappeared into the periodic book
sale at the library.

I requested the librarian to notify me the next time they weeded the CW
shelf, so that I could purchase the excess items (usually they sell for
about $1 at the book sale).  As a result I have since received four or five
discarded CW books from the library, and am looking forward to getting more.

Check with your local library.  It may be a good source.
