"last weekend I was at Mill Springs battlefield in Kentucky, and they have
built a nice museum out there .. one of their patrons willed his entire ACW
collection to them"
To make everyone absolutely green with envy, I just received a gift of an
entire set of the OR's (army and navy - about 140 volumes) from someone who
decided they could not use it any longer. Because of my interest in the CW,
they thought it would be put to good use.
I have found it to be an absolute godsend. It is so much more productive
using the actual volumes rather than an online access program or a CD.
It required adding 33 linear feet of shelf space to my "CW room" to
accommodate the collection.
Counting my blessings.
Tom
P.S. This is about the fourth or fifth time in the past 15 years that
someone has offered me a collection of CW books because they are no longer
interested, or someone has passed away and the better half wants to clear
some shelf space. Naturally I readily accept such offers.
Does this happen to anyone else?
