<<Thanks - I really appreciate that! The current owner of the Marshall home
gave me that photograph and the event invitation to use with the article.
That's the first time that either has been reproduced.

Working on a few things - Eric Wittenberg, Mike Nugent and I have some
jointly-written articles that will be appearing over the next several months
in ACW, CWT, B&G and Gettysburg Magazine. They're based on our new book
about the Retreat from Gettysburg, which will be released by Savas-Beatie in
June. I'm also working on some solo articles, and very shortly, after Eric
and I take a little breather (!) we're getting cracking on our next book.

BTW - Eric and I spoke to the Harrisburg CWRT on Friday night, and we met
one of your fellow members of the Dover CWRT there!>>

J.D.,

That is all good news. Please keep us informed when these items come out.
Your contribution, as well as Eric and Mike's, to our knowledge about
cavalry on both sides is appreciated, and, speaking for myself, anticipated.

If I may be permitted a suggestion, keep an eye out for the intel collection
and counter-intel roles that cavalry played in its operations. Not enough
of that has received the emphasis it deserves. Even though these roles were
continually being fulfilled by cavalry units during the Civil War, the
historical emphasis has focused on its combat role. My observation is that
intel and counter-intl were the primary duties of cavalry, and that combat
was and should remain secondary in the manner in which it is portrayed.

Forgive the lobbying, but could not resist the opportunity.

Regards, Tom
