On the Union side there was:
 
1st Maryland, Potomac Home brigade
1st Maryland, Eastern Shore
1st  Maryland (eleven companies)
Purnell (Maryland) Legion, Company A
3rd Maryland Infantry
Maryland Light, Battery A
 
The Rebels had:
 
1st Maryland Battalion Infantry
1st Maryland Battery
Chesapeake (Maryland) Artillery
1st Maryland Battalion (Cavalry)
Griffin's (Maryland) Battery
