Tom Allison was born in Gettysburg during the battle, according to a letter
in my
wife's possession. The letter also states that the boy's father was killed
during
the battle, but the author of the letter admits that he does not know his
name.
Can someone please check the records of Pennsylvania units at Gettysburg,
who may
have been recruited from there, to see if there was an Allison listed among
the
killed during the battle?
The only Union soldier named Allison killed during the battle according to
John Busey's "These Honored Dead: The Union Casualties at Gettysburg" was
Corporal John S. Allison of Company K, 75th Ohio Infantry (Eleventh Corps),
mortally wounded on July 1 (and actually dying on July 19). No dead Allsions
listed for any Pennsylvania unit.
