GDG- Major General Rowley

I heard the General was drunk during the battle and was court martialed.
  Any sources other then Sears Gettysburg? Were their excerpts from the proceedings.
  Did he have previous bouts a la Grant with the spirits?
  It amazes me that a Major General could on the eve of Battle be so irresponsible.
  Poor General Birney who had to suck it up as if Rowley was effectively as shot as John Reynolds!
