GDG- RE: changing front to the left

Alan,

The "front" is the direction that a regimental battle line (two ranks) is
facing. The front can be changed to either side or even reversed by the
proper command(s). In this case the battle line was re-directed so that it
faced left. For a regiment, this could be done by having the left flank
company wheel to the left and then each subsequent company would march
forward and "left turn" and move forward onto the new line. I can site the
exact commands if you need that. Since you are talking about a brigade,
each regiment in the brigade would use similar commands to move to the new
location as directed by the brigade commander.
