GDG- First visit

Hi 
We were 9 Danes who went on a battlefield tour starting up at Gettysburg late september.

We only had two days to see the "highlights" but
fortunately for the outcome of the journey, one of my companions travel a lot in The States and two of the others had been there (in Gb.) before.
There are so many things to see, a lot more than I expected.
I used the "Gettysburg, A Battlefield Guide" by Mark Grimsley and Brooks D. Simpson a lot.

I had a great experiense beeing there, but next time I am going to stay for a week. I will proberbly bring a couple of mountainbikes for me and my son the next time. I quess after seeing about eight bikes on our hole trip, it is not very commen, but it would fit perfectly on a spot like Gd.
I quess I  will have to skip the passages in the book were "You dont have to step out of the car to see this". HA-HA

We went on seeing Harpers Ferry, Antietam, Stones River and participated in the National reenactment at Mills Springs, Kentucky.
On we went to Cumperland Gap, Lexington, Antietam, Sailers Creek, Richmond, Jacksons Shrine, Fredricksburg and Manassas.
So you see, we did a lot of battlefields and museums.
The guided tours are wery informative and when its possible - hire a guide !
They added a lot of to our impression.

Oh - yes , not the forget; we had to buy extra suitcases to bring home all the stuff we bought at the visitorscenters and sutlers at the campsite at mills Springs.

I salute the american people for their hospitality and the way you all accept a bunch of foreigners.
