I've stayed at Artillery Ridge a few times, and when I had my Scouts in
Gettysburg, we stayed at the youth campsite on the park grounds, but some
parents stayed at Artillery Ridge. We were allowed to have the Scouts come
over and use the pool, which was a delight for them in late June after
walking the Scout trail!!
Artillery Ridge has a set of tenting areas in the back - it's near RV sites
that have no water/electric (primitive), so it's a fairly big area. There's
also a lot of activities at Artillery Ridge.
I haven't stayed at Round Top, but I've heard that's geared more towards RV
campers - but that's all I've heard.
As stated somewhere else here - the youth campground is fun, but you have to
get into that lottery early to try to get your date.

Esteemed GDG Member Contributes:
I'm planning to take 10-15 middle school age kids on a camping trip in
June. It will include a stop at Gettysburg and I wanted to know if anyone
had any strong opinions on the two campgrounds closest to the battlefield,
Artillary Ridge and Round Top. I've looked at the web sites for both and
they seem similar. Artillary Ridge offers riding tours as well and I
wanted to get any opinions on these.
For the Antietam leg of the trip, I'm planning on using the former Girl
Scout camp now run by Sligo Seventh Day Adventist Church. There is a site
attached to the battlefield, but it looked very open (unshaded) and less
comfortable. If anyone has experience with the Antietam location, I would
be interested in your opinions.
Thanks.
