Why do you want to hold the combatants of the ACW to higher standards than you would a GI in Korea or a grunt in Nam?

Hi Jack,

As Sherman wrote: "You cannot qualify war in harsher terms than I will. 
War is cruelty, and you cannot refine it."

Nonetheless, I personally do find the thought that such weaponry was 
used very disturbing.
