While doing some research last night, I ran across this snippet -
stating that the 2nd NH utilized "Poison and Explosive Bullets"[1]:
In June 1863, the second New Hampshire made requisition for 35,000
of these shells [2] and received 24,000. The second New Hampshire
regiment was at the battle of Gettysburg and 49 of its number lie
buried there.
Has anybody ever seen corroborating evidence for this?
In "Ready ... Aim ... Fire! Small Arms Ammunition in the Battle of
Gettysburg: Dean Thomas reproduces photographs of several such explosive bullets
found at Gettysburg.
